A researcher of proto-colonial Morocco through the prism of the discourse and practice of body, medicine and hygiene amongst Moroccan Jews and Muslims.
Dr. Ben-Layashi completed his doctorate at the School of History and the Department of Middle Eastern and African History of Tel Aviv University, under the supervision of Prof. Yaron Tsur. He spent a post-doctoral year at the Institut Sciences Po in Paris, and then joined Prof. Dan Dinner’s ERC project at the Hebrew University 'Judging Histories'. Today he is a research associate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at the Prof. Liat Kozma’s ERC project which focuses on researching histories of medicine in the Middle East and north Africa.
